This is a long weekend, Monday is the anniversary of
the United States. Check weather, good weather Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Thunderstorm. We can drive to trip. My husband chose to go to New Orleans. In
this journey, we across the three states of the southern United States, both
swamps, forests, shoreline, where there are deserts, fields and wilderness.
From left our house, we quickly on the highway 10.
Jacksonville, Florida, which is the starting East Freeway 10. Map of Florida,
it is like a pistol graphics, when you driving on Highway 10, it seems began
traveling on the barrel of the pistol.

Westbound sides of the narrow road, was originally
swamp, many trees grow in the water, and later became a primeval forest ......
the original ecosystem, and not because of the construction of roads and
destruction of the 10th, which is just across the road , trees on both sides of
the still lush as ever.
On the 10th road along the Gulf of Mexico all the way
to the west, we will soon pass through Alabama into Mississippi. We appreciate the
way in Southern Mississippi style.

In this section of Highway 10, there are many bridges,
and a very old steel bridge. That is not a verdant meadow on the bank, it is
aquatic plants. After the bridge, we entered Louisiana.
We have been traveling to the west, the sky is blue,
clouds seems to be in the head, surrounded by trees, occasionally see the
farmhouse, bunches of flowers, a desolate scene. We exit the Take 2 for MS-607
toward John C Stennis Space Center / Nasa to find Fort Pike State Historic
Site.

Fort Pike is located in Lake Pontchartrain at the lake
import Borgene. Lake Pontchartrain is a lake north shore of the Mississippi, an
area of 1630 square kilometers, is second only to Salt Lake in the United
States the second largest saltwater lake. Lake Borgene in fact connected to the
Gulf of Mexico and Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana belong to the jurisdiction of
the whole lake. Fort Pike is located in the peninsula peak, west control Lake

Fort Pike was built in 1818, not long America's
founding. The purpose of the building is once again the United States to
prevent the invasion of Britain. After the Civil War broke out in 1860,
Louisiana joined the Confederacy in 1861. During the Civil War, Mississippi
Fort Viksburg, it is an important and Confederate heavily guarded fortress.
In
the May 19, 1863, federal troops under the leadership of General Grant, drive
straight ready to capture the fortress. Navy Federal had already successfully
prevent other regiments to aid Confederate General C. Pemberton stationed at
Fort Viksburg, but Fort Viksburg defense is very strong. General Grant repeated
attacks failed. US Independence Day July 4, 1863, as Fort Viksburg all supplies
were exhausted,C. Pemberton generals surrendered to federal troops.

Nearby Fort Pike is sparsely populated, most tourists
are traveling from the New Orleans. Ticket office just before the bridge,
visitor center and park staff is also a place to stay near Fort Pike.
Unfortunately, when we arrived, Fort Pike closed.

We return to both sides of the highway 10, the road is
the lake. A small fishing village, tall houses, hurricane traces. Looking ahead
disappear as we were driving in the highway 10, there is no fear, there is to
enjoy the natural beauty of ease and pleasure dissolved therein. Small roadside
wildflowers swaying in the mountain seem graceful, petite and lovely, and the
distant woods stark contrast.

We enter the New Orleans area. In the French Quarter,
we are stuck in the street like a checkerboard. We want to find a parking
place, it can be really difficult. In the checkerboard street full of vintage
Spanish-style architecture, visitors like pieces, filled in the street.

We drive, it would seem walking
tour, in this
dense the restaurant
cafes, art galleries, antique art of the
French Quarter. Its architectural features with no high floors,
European small garden, carved small balcony railing,
based on the construction of a different
color.

We are very tough in the free
market turns on Decatur Street. We follow the convoy slowly moving forward.
Fine shops on the street, street performers play their instruments, street
artists display their paintings, a lot of visitors, and the desolate outskirts
of New Orleans, in sharp contrast.

We passed through Jackson
Square, looking for a parking space in the Mississippi River. We slowly walk in
the Mississippi River, blowing a comfortable breeze, the day's heat disappeared
without a trace, the lively New Orleans seems to have suddenly quiet.

In returning home on the road, we passed
a very long bridge. The bridge we passed a lot of times, I do not know it
