Quebec City range from magnificent walls to the surge of the St. Lawrence Lake, it is only a military town in northern Mexico in North America, and it was listed in the World Heritage List in 1985.

A Star-Shaped Citadel

A Star-Shaped Citadel of Quebec located on Cape Diamant. It is the most famous fortress in North America, traditionally it is considered Canada's strategic importance. Citadelle fortress stands on the cliff of Cape Diamant in the St. Lawrence River, was once known as the “the Gibraltar of the Americas."

Quebec's Star - Shaped a Citadel, it consists of the French army was founded in 1783, later the British army to defend the United States army reconstruction in 1820. Quebec City is Canada's main port, at that time, the British army to build a strong military camp in Cape Diamant, and built the walls around the Upper Town. Citadelle after more than 30 years to build, it guards the throat in the St Lawrence River, is recognized as one of the most strong fortress of the British empire. The Citadelle, it is still the only French Royal Army 22 group's headquarters in Canada.

There is a museum of the Royal Army Group of 22 in the Citadelle. It was rebuilt by the old power plants and army prison, display the traditional weapons and artillery, badges, uniforms, decoration, and from 17th century to the present literature.

 






Quebec City walls and gates

Quebec City has 4.6 kilometers of defensive walls, and four gates. It is completely ring is a different world. The wall outside is mixed into the new and old buildings, while the walls there were 17th-century French architectural style. Four gates of the St Louis - Gate and St - Jean Gate is the main Gate to Quebec City. The two Gate is medieval architecture. Built in the original St. Louis gates called by Governor Frontenac, in 1692 or 1694. Reconstruction of the St. Louis Gate and the Gate of St John, they are by William Lynn, Belfast training architects from Ireland in 1880.

Artillery Park

Artillery Park, near St. John gate. Artillery Park with many historical sites, including barracks, fortifications in the French rule. This site as a part of the fortifications around Quebec. In fact, the place strategy is based on the edge of the St. Lawrence River.

Plains of Abraham

The right of A Star-Shaped Citadel has a vast hills, the terrain ups and downs rich change, here is the battlefield park (fr: Parc des Champs DE Bataille), also known as the plains of Abraham.

In 1759, the famous battle of the Plains of Abraham took place on this land. This is the French and British troops in the fight for control of the city and surrounding areas. A decisive battle in the seven years’ war zone in North America. Battle of the Plains of Abraham played a total of 30 minutes, but ending a three-month siege warfare and changed the development of Canada in the future.
