Gas Town's name, which comes from a wine bar owner,
Jack Deighton's nickname - Gassy, it means "love to brag." In 1867,
Jack Deighton came here. In Gas Town's Water Street, he built a wooden hut -
salon and a bar, to provide the pioneers a break from all directions. This is
the origin of the first hotel in Vancouver.
All the streets in
the Gas Town, have access to Maple Tree Square. Near Cambie Street and Water
Street intersection, there is a steam clock, every 15 minutes will make noise
and steam, and it was the first steam-powered clock in the world.
Gas Town not far from
downtown Vancouver, walking can be easily reached.
