Germany, Berlin - Alexanderplatz

Alexanderplatz (Alexanderplatz), it is a large square and transportation hub in the city center of the capital city of Berlin in Germany, it is located in Mitte, near the Spree River and the Berlin Cathedral (Berlin Dom). This square is named after the Russian Tsar Alexander I (Zar Alexander I), he visited Germany in 1805.

Alexanderplatz has a site Worldtime Clock (Weltzeituhr), Fountain of International Friendship (Brunnen der Völkerfreundschaft), Berlin TV Tower (Berliner Fernsehturm), surrounded by the red city hall building, and so on.


The world time clock located on Alexanderplatz, it was built by the then East German government in 1969, used to display the time around the world. Since the 1970s, it is the tourist and locals to meet dating site.

On Alexanderplatz most striking is a sculpture fountain - Neptune Fountain, which was built in 1891 by Reinhold Begas design. Roman god Neptune fountain sculpture in the center. Neptune fountain was demolished in 1951. Between 1969 --1970 was rebuilt, designed by Walter Womacka. After re-built, Neptune Fountain was moved to the current location between St. Mary's Church and the Red Town Hall (Rotes Rathaus). It has a diameter of 18 meters (59 feet) and a height of 10 meters (33 feet).

St. Mary's Church (German: St. Marienkirche) was first built in 1270, until the early 14th century to complete. Destroyed by fire in 1380, after the repair as is. Existing red brick structure is an early 15th-century Gothic building in Germany. But the church tower, its unique skylight tower, is Carl Gotthard Langhans design work in 1790. Due to the design and construction of the Brandenburg Gate, he became famous people. Originally a Roman Catholic church to church, but has been a Lutheran Christian Church, because the Protestant Reformation.



There is a 22.6 m long medieval fresco "Dance of Death" at St. Mary's Church (German: St. Marienkirche), it is built to commemorate the outbreak of the plague in 1484. Famous musician Bach in 1747, worked in the St. Mary's Church (German: St. Marienkirche) playing the organ.




Berlin City Hall Berliner Rathaus

Berlin City Hall (German: Berliner Rathaus) is a North Italian Renaissance style, its architect Hermann Friedrich Waesemann, built in between 1861 and 1869. It is modeled in Toruń, Poland Old Town Hall today. The Berlin City Hall (German: Berliner Rathaus) tower building, reminiscent of Notre Dame Church tower in Laon, France. It replaces several separate buildings built in the Middle Ages, now occupies an entire city block.




During World War II, Berlin Town Hall (German: Berliner Rathaus) was severely damaged, but immediately have been rebuilt after the war. Berlin was divided into two parts of the period, here and all around the Alexanderplatz in East Berlin side. East Berlin city government office here, and West Berlin city government chose Schoeneberg (beautiful mountain) City Hall. After starting from 1991, Red Town Hall once again become a unified Berlin city hall is located, the mayor's office was there.
 


Berlin TV Tower (Berliner Fernsehturm

Berlin TV Tower (German: Berliner Fernsehturm) was built in 1965-1969, the tower is 368 meters high. Then East Germany build this tower, it is hope that everyone can see it, no matter where in Berlin, can see this logo, to prove that the East German development. Today, East Germany has become history, while the Berlin television tower still stands.

Berlin TV Tower (German: Berliner Fernsehturm), which is located in Berlin's Alexanderplatz. Now, it is the tallest building in Germany. It became the fourth tower in Europe, second only to Moscow's Ostankino Tower, Ukraine, Kiev TV Tower, Riga Radio and TV Tower in Latvia.

From a distance, the Berlin TV Tower (German: Berliner Fernsehturm), it's like a giant inverted vertically horn, thick bottom, the top small. In the more than two hundred meters of altitude, there is a ball-type building, when the sunlight at noon, which reflects the light like the shape of the cross.
